At Lyric Genie, we believe your creative content belongs to you. This data policy explains how we handle your information, protect your rights as a creator, and what control you have over your data.
What We Collect
- Account information: Email address and username
- Audio recordings: Voice recordings you upload for lyric generation, stored permanently as part of your song history
- Generated content: Lyrics, song titles, style tags, and your edits
- Chat history: Conversations with our AI assistant
- Usage statistics: Anonymous analytics to improve our service
- Newsletter preferences: Your opt-in status for marketing communications
How We Use Your Data
- To generate lyrics from your chat messages and voice recordings
- To save and sync your lyrics, songs, and chat history across devices
- To provide customer support when needed
- To improve our lyric generation and overall service quality
- To send you newsletters and updates about new features (with your consent)
- To monitor errors and performance via Sentry
Your Creative Content
✓ You own 100% of the lyrics you create
✓ You can copy, delete, or modify your content anytime
✓ We never sell or share your lyrics with third parties
✓ Your voice recordings are processed securely and stored as part of your song history
✓ You can easily copy lyrics, titles, and styles to your favorite music apps (Suno, Udio, etc.)
We reserve the right to use generated lyrics and chat interactions to improve and enhance our services. This may include analyzing patterns to make the Genie better at granting your wishes. We will never sell your lyrics or share them publicly without your permission.
How Your Lyrics Are Created
When you chat with the Genie or submit a voice recording, your input is processed to generate creative lyrics tailored to your vision. You retain full ownership of everything the Genie creates for you.
Publicly Shared Lyrics
You can choose to share your lyrics publicly from your profile or the chat interface. When shared:
- Your lyrics, title, and username are visible to anyone with the link
- View counts may be tracked on shared lyrics
- You can unshare at any time by clicking the "Make Private" button in your profile or chat view — this immediately removes public access
- Your email and personal information are never shown on shared pages
Third-Party Processors
We use the following services to operate Lyric Genie:
- Supabase: Database, authentication, file storage, and serverless functions
- Google Gemini AI: AI-powered lyric generation
- Google Analytics: Anonymous usage analytics
- Resend: Email delivery (transactional and marketing)
- Sentry: Error monitoring and performance tracking
None of these providers use your data for their own purposes beyond providing their service to us.
Marketing Communications
With your consent, we send periodic newsletters about new features, updates, and tips for using Lyric Genie.
- You can opt in during onboarding or in your profile settings
- Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link
- Unsubscribing does not affect essential service emails (e.g., password resets)
Data Security
We use industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL), row-level security policies, and access controls to protect your data. Your information is stored securely and accessed only by authorized systems needed to provide our service.
Data Retention & Deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. Specifically:
- Account data, lyrics, audio recordings, and chat messages are kept until you delete them or your account
- You can delete individual songs from your My Lyrics page
- You can delete your entire account from the settings on your My Lyrics page
- Upon account deletion, all your personal data is permanently removed within 30 days
- Anonymous/aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely
Your Rights
- Access: Request all data we have about you
- Rectification: Correct any inaccurate information
- Erasure: Delete your account and all associated data from your profile page
- Data Portability: Copy your lyrics, titles, and styles directly from the platform for use in other services. For a complete data export, contact us.
- Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for data processing or marketing at any time
Children's Privacy
Lyric Genie is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
